Shimmer Center

         Tianfu Jiangxi Laboratory is dedicated to advancing information technology, focusing on achieving seamless connectivity across various research areas. These include optical information technology, photonics, functional materials and components, optical sensing technology, and integrating quantum and neuromorphic computing with artificial intelligence. The lab aims to foster groundbreaking scientific and technological advancements that could redefine the future. It targets overcoming challenges in the technical progression from materials to devices, systems, and applications. By expediting the translation of local scientific discoveries and technological innovations, the laboratory aims to propel strategic industrial advancements in the field of information technology for futuristic development.

         Shimmer Center, established in 2023, comprises a highly accomplished research team. Its research encompasses several key areas, including perovskite optoelectronic materials and devices, the design and fabrication of semiconductor quantum dots for energy and optoelectronic applications, mid-short wave infrared imaging and focal plane detector modules, single-molecule fluorescence systems for tumor visualization, flexible optoelectronic sensors, plasmon-enhanced signal detection, and photonic nuclear medicine information intelligence, among others.

         Shimmer Forum is a recurring cultural exchange activity organized by the Shimmer Center. Its objective is to assemble pioneering resources in the field of microwave and photonics, both nationally and internationally. In collaboration with research institutions, universities, and technology firms, the forum establishes a vital platform for exchanging innovative accomplishments, thereby facilitating the realization of future disruptive technology. The forum delves into cutting-edge research findings and future developmental trajectories by inviting experts and scholars from diverse domains—from theory to materials, devices, and applications, both domestically and internationally. It fosters cross-disciplinary innovation and endeavors to achieve original technological breakthroughs “from 0 to 1”, subsequently mastering key technologies and core patents. This process lays the groundwork for industrialization “from 1 to 10”, ultimately leading to the incubation of related enterprises focused on integrating microwave and photonics, leading to a scaled-up economy facilitated by the growth and development in the field.

         Shimmer Salon is an important “government-industry-academia-research-investment” exchange event organized by the Shimmer Center to promote communication and cooperation among government, enterprises, universities, research institutions, and various sectors of society. Through hosting the Shimmer Salon, the government can promptly understand the needs and issues of enterprises, universities, research institutions, and society, effectively formulate policies, and address problems. Enterprises can take this opportunity to engage in in-depth communication and cooperation with government officials, industry experts, and other research institutions. Meanwhile, the wider society can learn about the latest policies and trends through Shimmer Salon events, and interact and communicate with relevant stakeholders. Prof. Zhiming Wang, National Leading Talent, Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA, currently Optica), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). His research focuses on the fundamental applications of micro and nanostructures in the cross-cutting frontiers of integrated photonics, quantum technology, flexible electronics, and renewable energy. Currently, he is in charge of a National Key Research and Development Program of China and an Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation.

We aim to build a comprehensive development platform integrating education, technology, talent, and industry, actively promoting full-chain innovation from theoretical research, material development, device fabrication to system integration. Starting from first principles combined with machine learning, the center focuses on the scientific research application of multi-scale, multi-physics heterogeneous coupling systems, dedicated to developing multi-dimensional micro-nano structure multifunctional integrated sensing detection systems, to achieve intelligent technological breakthroughs in optoelectronic information integration.
